How long should a half-hr show be for broadcast?Posted by sgscott
Every network has a slightly different pie. Check with the network to find who to talk to or where to surf to for their half-hour time pie.

I have seen 21:45, and 25:40...and things in between. Like they say...depends on the network.

22 and a half or 24 and a half. The magic numbers. Or rather, what Shane said. Depends on the network, but if you're doing a pilot, a 24 min target is quite safe.

If you are talking about a half hour show for an infomercial then it could be anywhere from 27 to 28:30
Again you have to check with your network rep. God Bless, Douglas Villalba director/cinematographer/editor Miami, Florida [www.DouglasVillalba.info] [www.youtube.com] [vimeo.com]

[28:30? Jeez, even in the good old days it was never 28:30. ] 28:45 at PBS back in the 80's, as I recall. - Loren Today's FCP 7 keytip: Nudge a Canvas layer by SUBpixels with Command-Option with Arrow keys !
