Did you notice that in all those screenshots all the clips are called 'untitled'? Shame people!
I haven't seen Bruce since 5 FCP I heard a rumour that he was removed because it was deemed 'not professional' to have a random yak in your pro software. Personally, I think professionals need little silly things to remind them that the whole world is not just increments of frames and pixels.
And, more history, apparently he was introduced originally because of the "If we can?t ship this puppy by then, we might as well be herding yaks" quote from one of the people on the team.
Pro does not necessarily mean not silly.

Jude's signature quotation says it all. In fact, the absolute best in the business tend to retain a playful, humorous element to them. (Ask Pixar.) My best time working on a show is still my sound mix at Skywalker Sound. When I had a crazy idea using an octave filter -- a guitar effect -- on a person's voice, it wasn't met with ridicule or "we don't have time to waste on this crap"; it was met with chuckles and a quick attempt to see if it worked. (It didn't, but we tried.) Even the atmosphere in the cafeteria was vibrant. They weren't doing jobs. They were creating life.
The people who think a creative workplace should be like an army camp are the ones who tend to produce generic, mediocre work. It's the crazy ideas and restless people who make magic.

To me the FCPX icon was far from finished lets petition the pro Apps Team to put Bruce in the icon.
