Jump to previous/next marker

hi all,

i have added some markers in my timeline and when i press shift-up/dn, the playback cursor jumps to the previous/next markers.

at least that's what it did last night. i come back today and it doesn't jump anymore! i can also try the menu command under the mark menu - same thing, namely nothing.

what am i missing here?

TIA,
stefan

Are you sure the timeline is the frontmost window smiling smiley

You bet, timeline is in front!

Remember clip markers and timeline markers are separate; shift-arrow only hits timeline markers. To hit clip markers, the clip itself has to be selected first.

Otherwise, you might want to trash your preferences.

Just a fine distinction here: Shift Up-Down Arrow will hit ALL Markers when the clip is selected.

my markers are clip markers. thanks to your suggestions i experimented some more and found out that locking the clip prevents you from jumping to the markers because the clip can't be selected! gee...

thanks,

Another thing to do is to select all (apple a) and hit the command to go to the next marker. This will go to any markers. Not sure what locking tracks would do for this, though...

i just tried it, same thing. if the track is locked, you can't jump to the clip marker. not sure if i'd like to call that a feature!

Yes, there is often more than one way to control functions in FCP. It's very exciting.
