dititizing video on FCP7 from my SONY DSR30 SD deck

ok here goes. am a FCP newbee as it were. Have been trying to get my FCP v7 to recognize my SONY DSR30 deck. an no can do. no matter what I put any of the setting to (NTCS generic or other wize.) still say failing to enialize. tried to refresh the AV setings, still nothing. Bare in mind folks, when using CS5, apsolutely no problem. if anyone could very kindly shed some like, much appreciated.

I have FCP 7 and a Sony DSR-30 and Log & Capture works fine on my Mac Pro. Deck is connected via firewire to the back of the Mac, is set on DV in/out. FCP Capture Preset is DV NTSC 48 kHz and Device Control Preset is Firewire NTSC. To get the deck to record from the Mac, you have to turn it off and restart it while holding both the pause and record buttons down. This deactivates the DVCAM audio difference to make it perform like DV.
