can I export HDV from FCP to IDVD in prores 422 HD for best results?

I finished a project HDV 1080 25p in FCP set same
Need to burn a DVD best Q
I usually use compressor and DVD SP to burn a DVD.
But in this case, as I don´t have templates and need a menu, I'm going to burn ti in IDVD.
When I export as Quicktime Movie with current settings the result is very poor so my question is
Shall I use QT conversion and then prores 422 HD for best results?
Is there any other way can you recomend me??
also I observe low quality in the titles that were created livetype
thanks in advance!eye rolling smiley

If your export at "Current Settings" doesn't look good, I would recommend duplicating your sequence and set the sequence compression to ProRes instead of HDV; then export that at current settings.

Thanks John,

For what I understand is a better workflow for HDV to always set the sequence to prores (or HD prores), render to prores and export QT movie prores?

Coulple of questions:
I unchecked interlaced, field dominance none, in the sequence settings. Is that right?

Should I export in current settings unchecked movie self contained to export?

Is then prores going to get better my quality in IDVD?

How long is your project? If it's very long it could be that iDVD is compressing it a lot to make it work.

Hi Jude, thanks for the answer.
No, is just 6 minutes.

Exporting prores timeline to QT movie current setting makes a very small file 6minutes 67 Mb. Isn't that too small for a good resolution result?

Yes, if it's self contained. That's far too small.

Export a self contained quicktime movie at 'current settings' from your timeline and see what size that is.

Hi Jude,

My HDV project now was copied to a new seq setting Prores, render prores and export current selfcontained, giving 4,39 Gb
It looked great but little unstable image at some shots and I observed that the dimensions changed to 1920x1080? Is it normal?
As you suggested I suppose that is the best quality I can ask for to make a DVD in IDVD.
Thanks a lot!
