Well, this is odd: when I checked the settings, audio output had somehow switched to fire wire DV, not default! Could this be because a fire wire was in port at the time of the preference trashing? Anyway, I reset to default -- correct for speaker output -- and presto. Talkies again. THANK YOU!
i'm pretty sure that the default set-up for FCP is NTSC DV,
so that would explain why it would have switched to that. it can pay to create a set of preferences that you store and use as a "default" for when you have to trash them again. there are a few preference manages around that can help you with all that, check out lafcpug moderator Jon Chappell's company Digital Rebelion: [www.digitalrebellion.com] you can also manage your prefs manualy. read this old, but not out of date (this week) article: [www.lafcpug.org] cheers, nick
Reminds me, some people (wonder who...) get stumped when they can't hear audio during capture. For some damn reason,. the FCP default sets audio PREVIEW OFF. Go to clip settings, CHECK the preview box... very annoying. Especially since it reverts to the default after every bootup. It's not right.
