Can't open .MP4

Hi All-

I received some footage shot in Korea on an unknown camera. The file extension is .MP4
I can only open it with VLC player. Tried Quicktime Player, MPEG Streamclip, Compressor, Log and Transfer to no avail. Is there a suggestion as to how to find out what the camera might be and or how to open and ingest the files into FCP??

The Quicktime error reads;
The operation couldn?t be completed. (OSStatus error -12909.)

FCP 7.0.3
OSX 10.6.8

Thanks!

Troy

Bring it into Sony's XDCAM Transfer utility. It could be an XDCAM EX clip.

Fire the DP data wrangler for destroying the metadata.

What they did is like ripping out the tape from a Betacam or DV cassette and sending you the tape expecting it to play in a deck.

Sometimes you don't have control over these things. First time I got a similar clip as the OP, I was trying to find a high quality FFMPEG based decoder, then I remembered that XDCAM EX used an Mpeg 2 codec in an Mpeg4 wrapper and XDCAM Transfer got it working.
