How to Connect Video and Audio Clip to Move Around Together
July 18, 2011 10:38AM
This is a tough question to search, because link or lock do not provide the right answer.

I have a video clip synced to an audio clip. I want to keep them together. And if I make cuts to the video, I want the same cut on the audio. If I move the cut video sequence, I want the matching audio cut to move with it.

Is there a way do hook the video and audio together so it's faster to edit this way, just cutting and moving the video, and the audio goes along with it?

Thanks.

Make sure linked selection is on and the video and audio clip is linked together.

line the clips up in a timeline,
select them,
Apple L to LINK

then drag that linked pari back to the browser, and use that new "Merged" clip as your master.

you can MERGE clips in the browser,
but i much prefer getting them in sync in the timeline, and linking.

I am doing this with audio synced with pluraleyes, and some by hand. And the clips get crazy out of sync, when they are transferred via xml to another machine. The Audio always comes in late.

This happens using both methods of locking and dragging to finder and also when you join clips in the in the finder by using the in point.

I wonder if the camera audio being 16 bit and the mixers audio being 24 makes a difference.

i remember this issue from way back.
from memory it was caused by the audio not having a reel#, or proper TC track.

what is you audio source?
