Last week I bought La Cie quadra 1TB with 800 firewire port
Model number 301542U. My version of FCPRO 4.5 with
my MAC OSX 10.4.11 crashes with this hard drive

My computer only has an 800 firewire port.
So I connected the drive via daisy chain.
And tried again via a 800 to firewire cable.

Still crashed.

But the 800 port itself isn't the only problem. This drive is just too fast for my older system. And it is practically impossible now to buy hard drives compatible
with my system.

My 2010 la Cie 1TB model number 301442U IS compatible with my system.

Does anyone want to trade an older model 1 TB with my new drive?

Or sell me an older NOT USED or almost not used 1 TB to me?

Or any advice?

Something else is wrong. There's no such thing as a drive "too fast" for your computer. If you're on FCP4.5, I assume you're on a PowerPC; a FireWire 800 drive shouldn't have any problems on your computer. Did you format the drive properly (Mac OS Extended) before using it? Is any drive on your computer filling up beyond 90 per cent?

That would make any problems worse, not better.

Yea, no problems with drives on Tiger. What is your machine, and what are you daisy chaining it to?
