Best conversion from PAL 25fps (SONY XD CAM) for 23.98 FCP 7 project??

I have received the RAW BPAV files from the crew in England. I used the SONY XDCAM Transfer program to ingest the footage to 1080p 25fps.

My project is in 23.98 (FCP 7.0.3)

I tried converting using MPeg Stream Clip which worked fast and offered the 23.98 setting. But although I unselected interlace, the footage is interlaced. Overall the result was not good.

In trying Compressor (Apple Pro Res 422 with frame controls on best better etc.), it takes forever but looks better- no interlacing. but only offers 24 (not 23.98) I don't want to assume it is meaning 23.98 when it says 24 - is it?

Compressor is still a bit jittery (I guess thats what you get trying to use 25fps in a 23.98 timeline). Is there another solution? Am I on the right track here?
