Embeded 48Khz / 20 Bits

i need to deliver a quicktime XDCAM HD422 with "Embeded Audio: PCM 48Khz, 20 Bits (little-endian)"

How do i create a 20 bit audio file on MAC, i got some encoding software on PC that create that file but none that support the Mac Only XDCAM HD422 codec

Blimey! I haven't heard of anyone using 20bit audio or devices for years - are you sure they have that correct? I've always wondered who uses 20bit audio... never had a project with it or need it...

Anyway you can do 8bit 16bit and 24bit Audio not 20bit in FCP.

Set it up in your sequence settings.

Ask the client - I presume they should be able to handle 24bit PCM audio with a XDCAM HD422 50Mbps stream.

That's a strange delivery format indeed. Sony's pdf on XDCAM families specify 16 and 24 bits (24 bits for HD422, which is what is now normally used for delivery.

the source is HDCAM and like Betacam Digital it's 20 bit audio on tape, HDCAM SR is 24bit.

Indeed, those are strange delivery specification. After research, i got some info, it's 24bit file but 20bit audio and 4 empty bit.

I capture that 20bit source in a 24bit format, hoping to get only 20 active bit, i just deliver, waiting for a reply from client to see if the file is ok.
