OT: "Mountain Lion" is coming...Posted by grafixjoe
...almost back to where we started with the Mac OS X 10.1 "Puma" then!
I feel slightly Cheetah'd on the naming! [For those unfamiliar in common animal naming; Mountain Lion is another name for the Puma... mountain cat, catamount, panther or my personal favourite cougar!] For instant answers to more than one hundred common FCP questions, check out the LAFCPUG FAQ Wiki here : [www.lafcpug.org]
Makes me very glad I have not updated anything to Lion yet except our main SAN server. Here's the full overview. Almost like an acknowledgement by Apple that Lion wasn't quite ready for prime time when it came out. Mountain Lion looks like they finally get the Macs talking well with the i devices.
The video is quite good with the overview. [www.apple.com] Walter Biscardi, Jr. Biscardi Creative Media biscardicreative.com
<"I wonder if it'll kill FCP7.x">
What it sounds like, I could be wrong. "Mountain Lion" boots into 64-bit kernel only. So any 32-bit programs won't run on "Mountain Lion". So FCP7 being 32-bit, it won't work. That's just a wild guess on my part. Again, I could be wrong. Here's a link about "Mountain Lion": http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/16/os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-system-requirements/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+osxdaily+%28OS+X+Daily%29 One other bad thing I see coming is: Once "Mountain Lion" is released, any FCPX updates/upgrades that come out after, will be only work on "Mountain Lion". Time will tell!
