SDXC Cards and older MACs
May 10, 2012 01:15PM
We have just recently purchased a JVC GY-HM150U and some of the new SDXC cards. The only computer that will recognize is our brand new MAC with FCPX. Is there a patch or update that will allow the older MACs to recognize these cards? This isn't really an FCP problem as much as a MAC OS problem. Thanks.

The computers won't even mount the cards? Or they can't see the format it records?

They won't mount. They are not recognized. We can't get as far as seeing the video files that are on them. The cards are good, because we can play them back in the camera, and the newest MAC mounts them ok. I also tried a windows pc with the same results. According to articles I have seen, the SDXC cards use a different organization from the older cards and older OSs don't know how to deal with them. I'm hoping Apple has a patch or update that will fix this problem, but I haven't found it yet.

Can't you just use the new computer to copy the files to a drive and then transfer to the older computers?
