Burning a DVD from DVD Studio Pro

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to burn a DVD from DVD Studio Pro and can't get it to play on a Standard DVD Player. It will play on
computers but not a player.
Can anyone help...

Is it NTSC or PAL? What kind of blank discs are you using?

Or worse, is it set to HD DVD?

Does it even play on a computer DVD drive if it's HD DVD? A friend of mine made this mistake and her disc just showed up as a data disc -- the latter symptom allowed me to diagnose the problem right away (too late -- after the fact -- but a pity she didn't have somebody who noticed this on site). I don't think that Toshiba format was ever adopted by any computer manufacturer.

I've never tried burning an HD-DVD to a normal DVD, but I've burnt HD-DVD to a disc images, and they play in the DVD Player app. I believe you can burn them to a standard DVD. Also DVD SP defaults to HD-DVD.

Is it DVD+R or DVD-R media. DVD+R is a no-no for playback on a tabletop DVD player.
