Blurry encoding from a Sony F900

I'm up for this show, and they have some problemmatical footage. I think I'll save that first sentence somewhere so I don't have to re-type it every other month. They shot with a Sony F900 and used a 35 mm adapter. They used monitors, but did not see the blurry quality of the shots.

Could this "soft" quality be the result of the transfer. I don't see how it could but I have counseled them to at least check the tapes.

Just curious if they recorded to HDCam or did they use a file based recorder attached to an SDI port?

We just had a serious issue with a Panasonic camera using the PIX 240 to record files.
Soft looking images. That particular camera had an DVCProHD tape transport in it. So the shots
were backed up to tape AND files. The files from the first day of shooting were soft compared to
the images recorded to tape. We were lucky the director insisted on both means of recording
for backup.
