Compressor
is supposed to be able to incorporate Closed Captioning while transcoding by adding it to the Additional Information tab of the Source file.
The criteria is that the time codes of the source file and the time stamps in the .scc file (closed captioning file) match; which I checked and they do coincide.
The problem though, is that it didn't seem to work. I created a .mpeg file; but when viewed in QT Player, the Show Closed Captioning option was not available ? like they were not there. However, the QT manual indicated that unless the encoding was EIA-608, it wouldn't be available.
Compressor uses the EIA-708 coding. I have yet to find a way of verifying that the closed captioning is actually there and useable.
The info is found in the Compressor User Manual under:

-About the Batch Window
-Adding Source Media Files to a Batch to Create Jobs
