lord knows how i missed this.

i remember seeing "Sunless" not long after it was made (and on TV, too! my, how the world has changed.)
the montage work was incredible. did my head in! how could anyone do that? i wondered. i wouldn't have clue where to start with something like that.
i wont say i completely "got it" at the time, but think it was fascinating, nonetheless.

What a man. What a body of work. My favorite is his "One Day in the Life of Andrei Arsenevich".

And remember "La Jetée"?

Sure, but I confess I prefer "10 Monkeys". Marker had a thing with comic books, the format of "La Jetée" which doesn't work for me.

But there isn't a film student alive who hasn't been brought up on the seminal characteristics of photography and cinematography embodied in LA JETEE'...

Comic books are the original cinema storyboards. It never surprises me that a comic becomes a movie. Unless it's HOWARD THE DUCK.

This is getting to be an overcast Tuesday, and it hasn't even started yet. Who else has the scythe swiped from us?
