Do you think it may have been the shadow of his older brother? Such a dark place to stand, especially when you're producing a body of work like that and still people don't really know who you are. Sad for any reason though. Hope he rests well.

People round here knew who he was. Shocking that something could be so terrible that he could extinguish his own bright light. I will miss him dearly. Condolences & prayers go out to his family.

No I mean as far as 'fame' goes. In the general populace it would always have been 'Who? Oh RIDLEY Scott's brother.'

Last I heard it was inoperable brain cancer. When Truffaut learned of his own, he went into seclusion. It just stops everything. For many of us, it's the real metric of life quality-- not the liver, lungs or heart, or losing a limb, but the mind.

Very productive filmmaker. ENEMY OF THE STATE is a favorite, the unofficial sequel to THE CONVERSATION.

Like most things spread on the internet the rumor of Brain cancer was false. Still tragic whatever the reason. Very sad today. Phyllis Diller and William Windom and Tony Scott. Great talents all.

Oh, my God, Phyllis Diller was never supposed to go away. And William Windom had a great range; from a snarky southern proseciuting attorney in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to James Thurber on TV.

I'll miss them all.

Nd now I just read that Scott McKenzie has died. Goodness! Great voice who wrote a great song that defined a lot of "gentle people with flowers in their hair"
