Can I save a copy with only the clips I used in a project?

Hi World,
I still use FCP 6. and I was wondering if there is a way to export or save as a project only keeping the audio and video that I actually used in a project. Excluding every this else, helping me keep my master file sizes to a respectable size. AfterEffects has this feature and It is Brilliant. Is this possible or is this something that will be in a future version of the Final Cut XYZ or am I just a sloppy, lazy dog?
