Want to rip DVD, post video on YouTube

I am interested in taking a 30 minute program made using Final Cut a few years ago and putting on YouTube. I no longer have the original QT movie files; I just have the DVD of the final program. What is the best way to extract from the DVD and upload to YouTube?

Mpegstreamclip, a great utility that won't be around for long. I'm assuming, of course that you have the rights to this material.

You can export a dv file or a ProRes file, probably better, and then use compressor to make your h264 for YouTube. I think I've tried going straight to H264 and found I get better results going to ProRes or uncompressed, and then making the file for YouTube.

Why's that?

My software:
Pro Maintenance Tools - Tools to keep Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro running smoothly and fix problems when they arise
Pro Media Tools - Edit QuickTime chapters and metadata, detect gamma shifts, edit markers, watch renders and more
More tools...
