This is interesting. A client arrives with his Sony PMW100 which seems to be shooting XDCam HD 422. I first try to just drag all the folders from the Sony SXS card onto a hard drive. Thirty gigs is going to take 8 hours. 8 hours?! I pull my XDCam BPAV folder over in a few minutes - this is from a Sony EX3.
I'm wondering if something is wrong?
So I try to do a Log & Transfer with FCP 7 ... but FCP 7 doesn't want to read this particular format (XDCam HD 422).
So I try using Sony's XDCam Browser ... and it is reading the files from the cards, but taking forever to convert them to straight XDCam 422 files. I'm not used to this very very slow conversion process.
Could there be a different way to do this, to capture the XDCam HD422 from the SXS cards, and converted into a format that FCP will read?
All ears,
Ben
