DVD Menu - It is Pixels for me & the LA DVD SP Studio forum :-(

The DVD SP forum is now READ ONLY. Wow don´t know whether to laugh or cry.

The drum roll. Possibly the first ever DVD SP post in Cafe LA…

How can I import a 872 times 486 menu from a client into DVD SP and have it look correct in Pal land. I thought that the maths was 1024*576 Square converts to 720*576 Non Square!!! It is the bloody pixels isn´t it???

I could not believe my eyes or my brain so I double checked it by building a little graphic 872*486 and it works perfectly. What am I missing any ideas?





Any old school DVD SP experts still alive?

It drives me nuts when things work and i do not know why.

Are you sure you're working in PAL? Once you switch form NTSC to PAL you have to start a new project in order for the change to occur. Lots of people get done in by this on their first DVD because the default is NTSC.

Ok Jude I have got it.

A guy in Germany pointed me in the right direction.

Most of the online stuff is simply wrong.

Seems to be something that was first corrected in CS4.

I still do not really understand it but, boxes inside boxes, inside boxes..

The Graphic which I have is 872/484 gives me a ratio of 1.8 which is not far off from….

"702x576 anamorphic ITU gives a ratio of about 1.78"

So that is close enough for me. I can put my inner perfectionist to bed now.

Don´t get how the magnetic north thing works but if i have a working compass I can find it!

Oh right - the photoshop setup thing? It is really annoying. And now apparently there's HD versions of the same thing. Wish they'd just simplify for once!
