How to put a widescreen with expanded image?
July 18, 2013 05:58AM
Hi,

As some of my clips in the sequence had to be expanded or twisted I cannot use widescreen or create black stripes as a mask
So how do yoou do it in those cases? I don't want to alter the sequence screen shape

Would be great if you know it as I've been googling with no results.
Thanks!

Not really enough detail there alioshka. What format is your footage? what are your sequence settings? What do you mean by expanded or twisted? You mean you had to scale them up and distort them? How did you achieve this?

Not true. If you put the mask on as an overlay, then the mask is independent and will not be affected by any scaling or distortion to the clip underneath. The only technique you can't use would be a filter, because a filter is applied to the clip itself and becomes scaled or distorted along with the clip.

yes I scaled them, I knew filter was not the solution but didn't know how to...
thanks!
I overlayed two masks Video generator-Matte-Colour on top of the clip, that's the only way I could crop the lower and upper shape and the result is widescreen!
cool guys!

A single black colour matte with Mask Shape (inverted) would have worked.

weirdly two overlays give you better RT than a slug with mask shape filter.
speaking of slugs, they are quicker to implement, and probably give better RT than Color Matte set to black.

still, my preferred way is to create a mask in Photoshop or similar.
