Two Issues-Need Advice

Hi all: Two issues have me stumped because they have never surfaced before. First, I cannot activate Show Title Safe no matter what I activate after laying in a title over video. I have highlighted the title clip, the timeline, whatever, and Show Title Safe remains gray. I have used it a million times but, all of a sudden, I can't.
Second, For some reason, even though I set Still/Freeze Duration to 1 minute, my images come into the timeline at 30 seconds. Never happened before. I am stumped.

OS X 10.6.8

Still Image Duration only works on files imported after the preference was set. Previous imported files stay at their default length until you change it.

Show Title Safe only works if Show Overlays is on.
