Canon has documented its logarithmic transfer function in the white paper "
Canon-Log Transfer Characteristic". But the corresponding Canon "color space" remains a mystery. Canon does provide IDT files
here which show how the recorded image (already magically R,G,B) is to be transformed to ACES R,G,B for displaying with ACES virtual primaries. Studying this leads me to believe that Canon is confused about its "color space".
Has anyone seen good looking, plausible color from Canon C100 or C300 footage displayed with any "color management" software, without additional doctoring?
Maybe the samples of C100 CanonLog footage I've received are bad samples. Can anyone provide me with a good sample of C100 or C300 CanonLog footage? This can be just a few frames long, but not "corrected".
Thanks.
