Trouble Importing XDCAM footage into FCP 7

I am having a terrible time trying to import XDCAM footage shot on a EX3, then dumped to an external drive. I have read other forums on this & downloaded the SXS driver & the XDCAM plugin, but I get no video. Only audio, & a green screen. Other times it won't even let me do that. Any help here? Thanks!!

Macbook pro 2.53 core 2 duo, OS 10.6.8, 4 gig ram.

Can you explain what you're doing to import? You're using Log and Transfer, not Log and capture, right? Then what?
