Looking for External Raid...Which is best?

I have been asked by my employer to purchase a raid array for back-up on our edit system. Here are a few specs that I will be asked for...

Mac Pro Early 2008, 2x 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon
4 Gigs Ram
Final Cut Pro 7

Starting to use some HD footage and accumulating finished projects, so I need more storage. I don't know if there is a card to add lightning capability or not but would like to set up for eventually getting a new Mac Pro (long shot but one must dream). I think that I will probably edit on my internal raid unless someone can convince me that that isn't the best idea. Thanks Barry

Loads of options but very limited if you want to buy one that will work great on your old mac and with thunderbolt of the new ones. what size and budget do you have in mind?
