Changing playback speed with no timeline effectPosted by stefangs
Hi guys,
when I want to change the playback speed of a clip to be faster, the other clips move in to close the gap. This may or may not be what I want. In particular, other tracks may have a conflict here and prevent that operation altogether. Can I still perform that operation if I don't mind the resulting gap? Thanks, Stefan -- macpro 2x3 ghz dual core intel, 10.6.8, FCS 2
in the speed change window (Command J) there's a tick-box for if you want the timeline to ripple or not.
if you have it set to NOT ripple, then i don't think the clip will get shorter and leave a gap, it'll keep it's original duration, then you can find trim it yourself. if you rely want ti to adopt a new duration, but not affect the timeline, then you need to do it the "old" way: copy it to the end of the timeline (or into a new timeline) do the operation, and copy / paste it back to where you want it. nick
Move to Premiere, Stefan There are a bunch of time adjustments that work great - my favourite is a tool that lets you grab the end of the clip and adjust it to the length you want, and the speed is automatically adjusted. Great for matching beats in seconds without messing up your whole cut.
PP seems more evidence of being FCP8... I hear GONE GIRL was cut on PP.
