I'm having trouble finding a simple way to rotate an iPhone video. I've tried multiple methods and it's surprising how such a simple tweak has become so complex! I would ideally like to rotate the video without recompressing it, therefore avoiding conversion time. Retaining metadata would be nice.
Methods I've tried:
1. Quicktime Player v10.4 -
Tips: Rotating Video Files in OSX
Good: Quick conversion.
Bad: The exported file is 4 times larger in size than the original.
2. VLC v2.2.2 -
How to Rotate Video with VLC Player on Mac/Windows
Good: Instant conversion.
Bad: Only for playback, doesn't save to file. Also outdated instructions. Under step 3, there is no "Video Filters" under window menu
3. HandBrake -
Can HandBrake flip/rotate a video?
Doesn't appear to have rotate feature natively in GUI. I'd rather not use command line.
4.
VideoBlend
Too slow. Took 17 minutes to convert a 17 minute long video.
I cannot find the option in Compressor 4. FCP 7 doesn't accept iPhone video files natively meaning I'd have to convert to ProRes first. To be frank, I don't even know how to use FCP X or iMovie.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Best,
HL
