Latest tool for ripping DVD to desired codecs?

Hi, folks!

My favorite friendly DVD ripper, Cinematize, is discontinued. Handbrake looks byzantine compared to it. Is there another really easy ripper out there that can be recommended? I want to get DVD title sets into ProRes.

Best, as always.

Hi Loren!

Cinematic looks like a good product,
shame it's discontinued sad smiley

I've been using P-a-v-t-u-b-e
(forgive the dashes, that word was banned here when they were spamming the forum)
they've so many products it's kind of confusing,
but iMedia Converter for Mac is what i've settled on.

cheers,
nick

Nick-

[Conversely, it can help you to watch DVD movies anywhere by converting DVD to popular video formats like MP4, M4V, AVI, WMV, MOV, etc.]

Okay, this is sideways-speak for "You can rip DVD's to any desired codec." Right?

Have you been satisfied using this tool to rip from a DVD title set to ProRes HD?

Best, as always.

Nick -

Your recommendation nailed it. iMedia Converter is the new Cinematize II.

I gave it a free trial test to confirm it converted to ProRes. It has all the mezzanine codecs and then some. Swiss Army Knife. Some genius in the middle of China.

Gratefully,
Loren

I find that when I rip to ProRes with this, it's not the exact correct codec for FCP 7. Any suggestions?

yeah more details would be good

are you getting the Media Manager warning: "this media is not optimised for FCP"?
I've pretty much ignored that without any problems.

i just read about Handbrake being recently used by hackers to get malware onto your computer:

Mac users installing popular DVD ripper get nasty backdoor instead

"Over a four-day period ending Saturday, a download mirror located at download.handbrake.fr delivered a version of the DVD ripping and video conversion software that contained a backdoor known as Proton, HandBrake developers warned over the weekend."
