i haven't had a chance to use it myself, but a user on the 'Cow says its working well for them.
i won't be changing my OS just yet, but it does give me more leeway with future hardware purchases.

cheers,

Incredible. I love it when people do projects like this.

I think I might try that too. Perhaps it even works for Motion and Compressor as well.

Update: I've tried reinstalling my quite legal FCP3 Studio retail package (FCP7 plus cousin apps) on a replacement 12-core tower purchased from Florida company Reverb. Not bad! Running El Capitan.

But No Go!! Something prevents the DVD from installing. Some weird system ID I think is part of the problem. Retroactive may be a solution in getting old FCP projects to XML files for transfer to Premiere. I have Mojave running on the old 2013 cylinder.

Anyone with success story please share!

Best as always,
Loren

FCP7 should easily install on El Capitan. Remember to first install QuickTime 7.6.

Concerning the "reprieve" for those people who have given up their pre-High-Sierra systems. Lauren's suggestion to use Retroactive for installing FCP7 on some later systems simply to export .xml's from FCP7 could be useful. However, FCP7 installed using Retroactive is not fully capable FCP7. I was surprised to find that Retroactive did not enable installation of Compressor 3.5 from the same Final Cut Studio package. FCP7 interacts with Compressor 3.5, e.g., when using FCP7 "share" to make Blu-rays.
