Moving a project from 1.2 to 2?
July 21, 2001 01:29AM
<HTML>Tried moving a project.
Played great. Looked great.
But when I tried an effect--desaturate--and tried to render--got this strange message.
"unable to render--not using the proper hardware card--codec not found"
The project is DV using my GL1 as deck--I don't use a hardware card.
Setups look the same.
Any thoughts?

Thanks so much, any help much appreciated, would love to move project over--think the color space and audio is better.

<HTML>Cy,
Did you upgrade to OS 9.1 and have you upgraded to quick time 5. FCP 2 only works if you upgrade not only FCP but the rest of it as well. Try that and good luck.

<HTML>Yes. Clean install. Even reinitialized hard disk.
In 1.2 got rid of all render files and rerendered with quicktime 5 RT.
Was using DVtoolkit--think QT5 is better--all works great in 1.2.

Do I need to upgrade QT5--have noticed a couple of incremental upgrades for it?

Could I ouput an EDL and remake project?
Seems painful--I suppose I would lose filter settings--color, audio.
Maybe only straight cuts upgrade--any thoughts?

Thanks Ruben,

<HTML>Check your sequence settings? Are you set to DV NTSC?

<HTML>Thanks so much Michael and Ruben,

It was a settings problem--I had only inspected my settings in 1.2--seemed fine there but in moving them to 2--it picked up that I had once used DV plus codec from DVtoolkit. I had earlier changed to QT5 RT in 1.2 -- noticeable improvement. So as suggested I changed my sequence settings in 2 to DV and voila--render.

Now-for my other question. I noticed that this project has a setting in it that I don't use any longer. For some reason I had set the DV fields settings to unknown. I always now use lower fields settings (think that is correct). I can reset everything to lower fields settings--should I do that--does it make a difference in DV?

Thanks again so very much,
Cy</HTML>
