Logging v manual capture

Posted by David McWhinney
<HTML>Hi all
Greetings from an Irishman in London...first all want to say what a great website. I am a very experienced traveling video tape editor..BBC and CNN going to all the nice places..Macedonia,Rwanda etc but now trying the big bad non linear world of FCP on my G4. As a novice I am finding it all very time consuming logging all the ins and outs, and think my poor little PC100 Sony DV is getting a right hammering mechanically. So I find it better just to manually capture the lot. Maybe its my tape background ie having all material to hand and reay to edit. Is this manual capture, which I prefer, popular. Many thanks David
PS To be fair when shooting video I shoot quite tightly, not alot of waste...after all I am going to edit the thing!!</HTML>

<HTML>David,
If you have no need to log then God bless Ya! If you shoot as well as you do I can see wasting time logging would be a chore. Have fun and good luck with your final cut expirence.
