problems exporting in avi

Posted by Davide Molinari
Hi, I have to export an avi movie to fcp but quicktime doesn't read the file and when I try to open it I get a message from quicktime telling me there isn't the software to read the file, even on internet there isn't this proper software, any help?
I also have to import another avi file of 1,36 gb to fcp (this one can be seen by quick time but is very slow to move fast forward), but I cant because when I try to import it appear the small wheel, maybe is too big the file?

It could be the card used to capture the avi is incompatible with FCP. This is a problem were I work, with one Canopus card. The drivers used on this card will not allow FCP to see the avi, and its even a problem for the other PC systems used by my co-workers.

File size should not be a problem unless you are exporting an avi out of FCP. Then you are limited to about 18 minutes or around 3.5 gigs for an avi file. If you need to send ouot a larger file in an avi try using the Animation codec to send it out.
