We are posting a feature shot on film in DVC-PRO HD 1080p, with HD-CAM dailies digitized with the Kona 2. We will be going back to film for the DI scan, etc.
We are now having to turn over standard def NTSC tapes with real 3:2 for audio post, and there seems to be no easy way to do this with Final Cut.
The Kona 2 card will not down-sample and convert 23.98. You can choose 29.97 playback, but choosing a 2:3:2:3 pulldown in the RT menu results in stuttered SD. Choosing 2:2:2:4 results in smooth SD playback and recordings, but the audio people report that its not "real" 3:2 (which its not), and thusly their audio does not synch up.
Does anyone know of a way to get real 3:2 SD output from a 23.98 HD timeline using the Kona 2?
Also, are there any audio post facilities that accept 23.98 source? Audio people seem be a bit behind the curve. The first one I can find that has moved past the 3/4 format gets my next show.
Thanks,
Tim
