Mini DV deck recording
June 20, 2005 05:32PM
Hello,
I am trying to copy a mini dv tape onto another mini-dv tape and I am using my 1 chip dv camera that is connected too a mini dv deck. The problem I am having is that the sound from the origianl mini-dv tape is fine but when I recorded onto the other mini-dv tape the sound keeps dropping in and out... Does anyone know what the problem could be.

It seems like the sound cannot be read by the mini dv deck correctly or something

thanks role

1 - is the camera you are playing on the same one or same kind you shot the footage on?
2 - was the footage shot in SP or LP?
3 - how are the cameras hooked up? you should be connecting them via firewire.
4 - how long since you cleaned the heads on both camera and deck?

It's also possible for one device to be able to handle super-hot sound spikes, glitches etc. but not another. If all else fails, capture the footage using your camera (whichever device you said you could "play the sound from the original tape" without problems), check to see if the glitches appear, then spit it back out at the deck.
