Hi Guys and Gals

Does anyone know if the Maxtor Diamond Max 10 250 GIG internal is compatible with the new G5 dual 2.0?

Here's the specs on the drive

Maxtor Diamond Max 10 QUICKVIEW
3.5"
16 mb buffer
250 gig
PATA 133 HDD
Model: 6L250RO

Which is better - SATA 150 or PATA 133?
What's the difference?

Im dealing with a wholesaler and can get the Maxtor drive for $120

Thanks in advance.

Hi-

G5's use only SATA drives internally.
Many people on this forum are not fond of Maxtor drives; I've had mixed results with them.

I'd go with the newer Seagate SATA drives (7200.8) They are fast, quiet, and solid. They generally cost a tad more, but it's worth it in the long run. Especially if you are doing video editing.

That's just my opinion though. The most important thing for the G5 is that it's SATA.

I went with a 300G Maxtor Maxline 111 (7200rpm-SATA11-16mb) based on barefeats.com speed tests for my G5 and couldn't be happier. It's a lot faster than the build-in, very quiet and comes with a 5 year warranty.
