Laptop hard drive speed

I have seen 4200 RPM and 5400 RPM hard drives in lap tops. It looks like the standard hard drive in the Powerbooks is 5400.
Those of you who use Powerbooks, do you use the standard 5400 drives without issue?
Anyone use a 4200? Any issues?
Thank you

As a followup- the new iBooks have 4200 RPM drives.
I could upgrade the drive to a 5400 RPM.

For video you're really a lot better off with 7200 rpm.

and never use your main hard drive to capture video...unless it's offline RT.

I have a PB 17 with stock 5400, no probs-- aja i/o with fw 800 drives easily get uncompressed, have to flatten timeline to print to tape... works great!

Also have 17 PB, works awesome ...
Hey Howard... what do mean flatten the timeline (nest, Output to QT?)...
Sometimes if there is media on dift externals it craps out while printing to tape.
Thanks-

Has anyone put in a 7200 in a PB 17?
Results?
Cost?
Is this even possible?

just get an external 7200rpm fw drive...
its not advisable to be capturing and worrking off your boot drive in the first place (though it seems many do with few problems)

yes if I have more than a layer or two especially with audio I'll nest the final sequence for print to tape, usually all my media is on externals
