Are there any compatability issues with clips captured in version 5 and used in version 4

A colleague captured some footage (shot on the Sony HVR-Z1EHDV in standard DVCam - not HDV ) using FCP version 5.

He has sent me the QuickTime files on an external G-tech fire wire disc.

I have version 4 installed on my Mac ? when I import the files and drag them onto the timeline ? only one-soundtrack shows and this is blank (no modulation).

However ? analyze movie indicates 2 x 48khz tracks and when I use my QuickTime player to open the files I can hear the sound.

As far as I am aware all of my sequence pre sets are correct.

Any suggestions gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Joe

Yeah. You'll need to do it via XML, I'm afraid

Here is how

Native HDV footage will not play on any other version of FCP other than FCP 5.

Yeah, but it seems he captured DV, not HDV so as far as I know XML is only way to assure compatibility.

Dear Mike ,
Thanks ever so your feedback. I will try the XML route butprobably simler to up-grade to version 5.
