HDLink: The World's First Full HDTV Resolution 4:4:4 Monitoring Solution for DVI monitors, now adds HDMI support.

IBC 2005, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - 9th September 2005 - Today Blackmagic Design announced the immediate availability of a new model of our HDLink, a product with revolutionary features for HDTV monitoring on LCD computer displays. HDLink 2 supports a much larger processor chip allowing for more processing power, and additional features over the original model.

Also released today is HDLink Utility 2.0 software allowing all HDLink models to be upgraded with full HDMI support for large screen flat panel televisions and video projectors. HDLink Utility 2.0 includes HDMI support, and is fully compatible with all HDLink models, so all customers can benefit from the ability to use their HDLink with a wide range of HDMI devices.

HDLink connects post production quality SDI video directly to any supported DVI-D based LCD computer monitor for true HDTV resolution video monitoring. Now with new HDMI support, customers can extend the display choices for HD monitoring to HDMI based large screen televisions and video projectors.

HDLink's compact design combined with full resolution HD makes it the perfect choice for postproduction studios, edit suites, telecine or even location video shoots.

Because every single pixel in the SDI video standard is mapped digitally onto the pixels of a 1920 x 1200 resolution LCD display, a perfect digital pixel for pixel HDTV image quality is obtained. HDLink is perfect when working in HDTV, where even large 23-inch CRT based monitors can't display the full resolution of the HDTV signal. HDLink lets users see everything in a HDTV image, so you know exactly what your images look like.

HDLink is the world's first full HDTV resolution 4:4:4 monitoring solution, and supports standard definition SDI and HD-SDI based inputs as well as Dual Link HD-SDI 4:4:4 input for full resolution color monitoring. For accurate calibration of monitor colorimetry, HDLink supports 10 bit lookup tables that are custom programmed and downloaded via USB. Standard lookup tables are supplied for Panasonic Cinegamma?, and Thompson Grass Valley Viper? cameras. HDLink also includes high quality analog audio outputs for a complete video and audio monitoring solution.

When connecting to DVI-D displays, HDLink supports all DVI-D based digital computer displays. For 1080 and 720 HDTV formats a 1920 x 1200 (16:10) resolution display is recommended. However, if working in 720 HDTV formats only, then a lower cost 1280 x 800 resolution display is recommended. When working in NTSC or PAL, HDLink can 2x oversize the displayed image making viewing easier.

When connecting to HDMI displays, HDLink supports all HDMI displays for up to 1920 x 1080 resolution, although actual display resolution depends on the resolution of the connected HDMI display. HDMI displays make great in suite monitoring solutions when large client video displays are required, as HDMI televisions are larger and much brighter than DVI computer displays. With HDLink, customers have the choice to connect to DVI or HDMI displays.

Audio outputs on HDLink are de-embedded from the SDI input and then converted to analog at an incredible 24 bit. Audio is output through consumer compatible analog outputs on RCA connectors, letting you connect to standard HiFi systems.
