DV Garage releases "dvMatte Blast" for Apple's Motion 2

From Alex Lindsey at DVGarage

I just wanted to let you know that we're shipping dvMatte Blast for Apple's Motion 2. Blast is more than a mere port of existing software, we re-wrote it from the ground up to take full advantage of Apple's new FX-Plug Architecture. What it means to us was getting a chance to write our software straight to the Graphics Processor instead of the CPU. What it means to you...a 90-100 times increase in keying speed. We were hoping to increase the speed by 10-20 times. We had no idea it would work as well as it did.

On a G5, Blast in Motion 2 will key DV footage in realtime, HDV footage in realtime, and HD footage (1080p) in near-realtime.

In addition to making it really, really, but like, really fast...Ben Syverson (the brains behind the keying brawn) made it way easier to learn. Ben simplified the tools for this version to make it buttery smooth while getting your keys done in record time. Watch a 15 minute video on the process and you will be keying minutes later!

Better yet, it's cheap, I mean, inexpensive. Either way, it's $99. Not too shabby for something you can't do anywhere else on a Mac. If you don't have Motion (which is only $299)...just consider Blast a $400 keyer - which is still cheaper than most of the other, much-slower-but-not-much-better keyers out there. If you don't have a Mac, well, it's a $2000 hardware keyer that can surf the web, play music and make movies. How's that?

Check it out here...

Download the demo and, if you need to, download the Motion 2 Demo from Apple's site, and start playing.
