Workshops from Citrus College starting March 8 at Santa Monica production company

As you all may recall, Shane Ross and I were involved with a prototype Pro HD workshop at Citrus College of the Fine and Performing Arts in the summer of 2008. It went extremely well, attracting participants from New York, Washington and Oregon as well as many from LA. Since then, Dean Bob Slack and I have been preparing a full digital video curriculum which is kicking off in March with unique weekly workshops taught by working professionals at an active production company, Tom Jennings Productions on the 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica. Titled "The Reality of Reality and Documentary TV", each full-week, 40-hour workshop is a real-world crash-course in every aspect of digital TV production, with strong emphasis on story structure. The workshops are intended for newcomers to the business plus experienced reality/documentary folks now needing new skills to wear multiple hats for our multi-tasking world (ie editors needing to know more story structure, videographers needing to produce and run sound, producers needing to edit rough-cuts and shoot 2nd camers, etc.) The classes are also intended for advanced high school and college students looking for a no-nonsense, mythbusting introduction to the real world of our business. Again, Shane Ross will be a key instructor involving post production.

For more details and sign-ups, go to [www.citrusartsvideo.com]. Total cost for the 40-hour very intense 5-day workshop (described in detail on the site) is $795. 20 participants max per session. Reservations are now being taken for weeks starting March 8, 15, 22, and 29. Enrollment can be processed online through a link at the site. Thanks for checking it out. With the lineup of instructors teaching not in a classroom but a working production facility (where Shane has been on-lining all year), we guarantee it will be a great experience. And with small class sizes, plenty of opportunities for one-on-one interaction and networking with instructors and guest speakers. Other more specialized courses will be added later this spring and summer as the curriculum evolves. Feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks much.
