EDITSHARE TO UNVEIL NEXT STEP IN LIGHTWORKS JOURNEY AT IBC 2011

On September 8th, EditShare will announce important news regarding the groundbreaking development of Lightworks Open Source

Basingstoke, UK ? August 31, 2011 ? EditShare®, the technology leader in cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage, will share with the editing community on September 8th, 2011 the next phase of the highly-anticipated Lightworks Open Source. Since EditShare's acquisition of Lightworks in August 2009, developers have been working hard porting the source code, while simultaneously improving the system's capabilities, interoperability and performance. Progress behind-the-scenes has seen tremendous success. "Just about nine months ago, we began our journey toward Lightworks Open Source with the release of the Lightworks 2010 free download. Since then, we have amassed over 140,000 registered users with 15,000 plus new users registering each month," says James Richings, Managing Director, EditShare EMEA. "With the launch of Lightworks 2010, we established the extremely popular Lightworks online community. With constant dialogue between users and developers, the progress has been extremely positive and it brought us to where we are today ? ready to announce the next steps in the evolution of Lightworks."

Academy® and Emmy® award-winning Lightworks was introduced in 1989 as the first and most advanced professional editing system on the market. Its intuitive controls, real-time synchronization, and editing features remain unmatched by top industry alternatives. The Lightworks system is used daily on many news and sports productions around the world, as well as on multiple feature-length motion pictures. Recent films edited on the Lightworks platform include the Academy Award®-winning "The King's Speech," edited by Tariq Anwar; "Hanna," edited by Paul Tothill; and "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," edited by Jill Bilcock.

The upcoming Lightworks announcement will be distributed on the morning of September 8th amidst the IBC Show in Amsterdam. All currently registered Lightworks users will also be informed of the news.
