O/T Wassup 8 Years LaterPosted by Dan Brockett
AAAAhahahahahahaha...that was f*cking HYSTERICAL. I remember pi$$ing my pants with all the old "WASSUP" Bud ads. Love it. Made me look them up again. Still as funny as ever!!
Who gives a crap bout the political aspect. Ain't gonna sway my vote one way or the other. It's a riot...and yes, very well done. Thanks for pointing that out, Dan When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.
im sorry - and i may be risking being banned from lafcpug for life here but do you people have ANY @#$%& idea what youre talking about?
you have a bunch of black guys (who are a big part of the target demographic of the whole sub prime argument) sharing a house and a single phone line. sitting around in their underwear. talking about losing their house and the war?!??!?!? if that isnt political i dont know what the @#$%& is!!?!?!? funny? sure, i got a laugh but there is little to nothing from a production or FCP standpoint to discuss about this. and i guaran-damn-ty you if i posted a spoof commercial paying nod to left-side, socialism, it would be jerked down within seconds...
It's not a problem that the piece is political. It's not a problem as long as people don't use this as an avenue for spreading a message, but as a place for discussing film production.
Actually, as propaganda, the piece doesn't work. Too over the top. As a comedy, it's okay (I didn't get the Budweiser connection, so everything flew over my head). The editing was a bit rough, though -- chased the line, bad sound transitions. However, the multiple locations worked well, and the "hanging" cut was the one fabulous idea. www.derekmok.com

You are getting emotional about this. It's now political because that is all you are making out of it. Sure it is a political message, but its one that I feel is very well done. Ron Howard has a brilliant one over on funnyordie.com. Does it work to get me to Vote? No. I'd of voted anyway. I'm not the audience they are after. I think its brilliant from moment one and would of also thought so if McCain was on the TV instead of Obama. The clip of the guy in the hurricane was inspired. And no Wayne, you can post right wing crap here if you want as long as you don't write right wing crap. Michael Horton -------------------
lets do more politics
This for all you rotoscoping freaks [www.break.com] Michael Horton -------------------
That would be me.
I think I just peed my pants...that is an absolutely scream That is some great high-end work there on the rotoscoping / tracking front. They should have squeezed Joe Biden in there. I vote for a dance-off on November 4th on the Capitol Steps!! Excellent find Michael. "I would tap that, my friends" AAAAAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha................ Yep...same guys. The guy on the couch is actually the writer / director Charles Stone III. The "Wassup" Budweiser commercials were based on a short film, entitled "True", written and directed by Charles Stone III, that featured Stone and several of his childhood friends - Fred Thomas, Paul Williams, Terry Williams, and Kevin Lofton. He also directed "Drum Lime" & "Mr. 3000"

UNITED States and yes we can do politics so long as we don't hurl talking points at each other maliciously and stick to video points. wuzzzzuuuuuuuuh """ What you do with what you have, is more important than what you could do, with what you don't have." > > > Knowledge + Action = Wisdom - J. Corbett 1992 """"
Wow Wayne, you gave me much too much credit for thinking out why I posted these. A friend of mine worked on these and he sent them to me.
I was with Michael on this, I really liked and remembered the original Bud spots, which is why I posted these. They were a huge cultural phenomena when they originally broke so I thought people would be interested in seeing the updates. Jeez, didn't mean to cause a firestorm. D
