Deinterlace or not?

OK, I'm totally blown away by color and what it can do. I'm working on some old footage, 3/4" umatic, that I've imported and now I want to know if I should use the de interlace funcion in color.

What and when should we use this for?

Thanx,

Kevin

Since I don't yet have Color, I can only pass on what I think I have heard. Anything going into Color has to be Non-Drop-Frame.

Theres plenty of discussions about this on creativecow.net

The drop frame / non drop frame issue just means timings will be different in color. I don't think it effects the color process though.

As for the de-interlace - remember Color comes from a "for film" background, so if you included video in your project, you'd probably want it progressive.

However, the in-build deinterlacing in Color is poor, hence I wrote some very nice smart and adaptive deinterlacers for it to use in the ColorFX room. You can get these at www.nattress.com
I don't have the demo of these ready yet, but I'm working on it.

Graeme - if you need some beta testers for anything I'm at a non-critical stage with Color, so I'm happy to run it through the mill if you want. I'm on the new 8 core, 10.4.9 etc. PAL.
