re-editing a film graded in color

We're working on a short film (DVCPRO HD) in FCP that's been graded in Color. There are some small changes that need to be made to the edit and FCP is acting a little buggy. It's cutting off the end of sequences and losing filters unpredictably and also it seems to be mixing up clips (after the color grade, there are a lot of new clips in the bin.

Anyway, without getting too forensic about it (basically FCP doesn't seem to be working properly) would it be better to make the edits to an earlier ungraded version then send it to Color again for the grade (this would be a pain but not too much of a hardship) or is there a magic bullet solution like trashing the preferences file that anyone knows about?

Also, are there any hidden gotchas with this and/or are we just making some basic mistake?

All assistance received with gratitude.

cheers,

Jon
