Color Correction: Use Color? How to Learn Color Correction and Color? HW For Color?

Hi,

I don't know very much about Color Correction. We have roughly 80 one hour videos (mostly talking head) that need some tweaking. Exposures are often not very good (faces are frequently too dark) and the colors could sometimes be improved.

My choices are (I think) FCP Three Way, Color or Colorista. Is using Color the best choice or a good choice?

If so what is a good way to learn Color Correction AND the Color Application? Is the Ripple Training Disc a good way to learn both Color Correction and the Color Application? Any other suggestions? About how long will this take?

The footage is SD, mostly PhotoJpeg @75%. Is a Mac Pro Quad Core (2 Dual Cores) with the base graphics card (GeForce 7300 GT) adequate for this purpose? About how long will it take to render out a 60 minute video?

Ripple Training's Color DVD is best out there. But for what you are doing the FCP CC is just fine. You learn principles of CC in the Ripple Training DVD as well as Color.

The FCP CC is much easier and is fine for your needs. Color has a much stiffer learning curve and is a professional Color Correcting tool that gives you many more options and fine tuning. Its overkill for what you are doing.
