LCD Broadcast Monitor Resolution

I've been noticing that a lot of the LCD Broadcast Monitors (Panasonic, Sony, and some JVC) don't have enough resolution to show full 1920x1080. I know it would be better to view everything pixel for pixel. But since there are so many that don't, I'm inclined to ask (for self assurance I guess).

Is 1920x1080 essential for creating accurate (for broadcast) grades on hi-def material? I'm assuming that this benefit would just be for 1080p material and that most of these monitors have a 1:1 scaling mode for 720p.

Thanks a lot.

I think for clean accurate viewing you'd want a full 1920x1080 rez viewing if you're working with that material. This is the reason to get an Apple Cinema Display. The ACD 23" has that capability which is what I use with Color and the Matrox MXO. I think otherwise it's shrinking pixels and am not sure how that would affect the color grading process - it still might give you accurate color display...
