Grading in 2K vs 1K for NTSC finish

Hi All:

I am working on a project shot with the Red Camera and Quicktime files with ProRes HQ.

My final finish is DigiBeta NTSC.

Would it make a "visible" difference to color correct the 2K files as opposed to the 1K files I did all my editing with?

Thanks,

Gualex

Depends. Probably not. When you're color grading you're changing the values of pixels regardless of resolution. However, keep in mind that you'd have to re-render the clips in Color and this is when a higher rez source clip makes a visible diff I think because you're rendering a higher resolution file not a 1K file.

Hi,

We are finishing a short shot with Red, edited with ProRez and maybe finishing ProRez. The color correction facility said they will color correct with a prorez QT. Now, when projected, would they eye be able to tell the difference or should we go with a 2k finish?
