Hi, I couldn't find answer to this, so if anyone can help...

How much RAM does Color use?

I have

G5 4x2.5GHz + 6GB RAM
Mac Pro 8 x 3.0 GHz + 5GB RAM
Mac Pro 8 x 2.8 GHz + 3 GB RAM

Can I do anything to speed them up?

What about hard discs? I will send footage to Color from FCP.
If I have FCP Capture folder on Disc 1 and Render folder on Disc2, how do I set up Color? To render on Disc 2?

Tnx

M

They all have base graphic cards:

GeForce 6600 on G5

and I think GeForce 7300 GT for Mac Pro

I would use the most powerful Mac you have to use COLOR.

You can select the render directory in COLOR user preferences/ settings.

I don't know how much RAM it uses but you can always check with "Activity Monitor". Use your Mac Pro 8 x 3.0 GHz + 5GB RAM Mac. 6GB should be enough.

Also, the internal processing bit depth affects how fast COLOR is. Again under user settings.. 10bit, 12 bit, 16 bit... the less you use the faster
